Head to the first floor of the castle and immerse yourself into the world of 18th-century aristocratic representation, when the Náchod Castle was owned by the Italian Piccolomini family. This tour will take you through the interiors that were used not only for receiving guests but also for the everyday life of the castle's inhabitants.
The first part of the tour will take you to the magnificent reception rooms where the Piccolomini family hosted their distinguished guests. You will see the monumental Spanish Hall, which served as a large dining room, the elegant Imperial Room, a small dining room, the Piccolomini Hall with a family portrait gallery, and the castle game room, which houses a unique Baroque collection of floral still lifes.
The second and third parts of the tour will take you into the privacy of the aristocratic apartments. The first of these belonged to the owner of the castle himself, Ottavio II Piccolomini – you will see his study and bedroom decorated with original Brussels tapestries, as well as the dressing room with a room for a butler. The second apartment belonged to Princess Anna Victoria, Ottavio II's mother. Here you will enter her private quarters, including a parlour for receiving visitors, a private dining room, a study, and a bedroom.
Tours of the castle are conducted in Czech only, but we provide English texts for reading for visitors from abroad.
The start times of tours are usually not fixed and are determined by the cashier based on visitor interest.
